May 14, Evelyn Janus and her sister, Ethel Giesbrecht, travelled to Sexsmith, Alta. to attend the 80th birthday celebrations for their aunt, Ester Spence. A happy crowd gathered at Goodwin Hall to enjoy supper and visiting.

This week we learned of the death of Steven Snell. Steven was the second child born to Ernie and Gladys Snell, long time residents of Waseca. He, along with his brothers and sisters attended Waseca School and the family was active in the community, all being very sports minded. Steven enjoyed and was competitive in ball curling, skating and swimming.

In 1981 Steve married Joanne Rolheiser and they made their home in Waseca. While they raised their family Steve worked in the oil patch and at the Pool elevator.

For the last number of years Steve lived in Lloydminster. Most recently, because of ill health, he resided at Jubilee Home where he passed away at the age of 59 years.

Family and friends will miss Steve, especially with his rare sense of humor that could always lighten up a conversation. We extend our condolences to family members and to all who knew him.

From the Waseca Herald of Dec. 1, 1907: The young folks of the neighborhood have lots of fun this fall skating on the little lake and Battle River, the moonlight nights adding greatly to the enjoyment.

The English Church building is progressing nicely and will be credible little edifice. It is rumored another church will soon be built, but possibly not before spring.
