Paynton's Regeneration Coffee Shop provided a safe and warm place for stranded travellers during the March 20 blizzard.

Spring is here, can't you tell? The eight-foot snow drifts that were built overnight by gusting winds reaching 87 km/h in places was alovely welcome to spring from Mother Nature. Luckily we are Canadian so we can handle the weather, but even Canadians have to know when to say enough.

Travellers on Highway 16 were driving in zero visibility through the storm of March 20 and needed to find shelter. Luckily for them, the new coffee shop in town was ready to warm their hands on a cup of joe and something to nibble on.As the storm did not let up that day, two car loads of people needed somewhere to stay. There is no hotel in Paynton but kindness ofthe villagesresidents made sure that these travellers were fed andsheltered for the night. If you are passing through Paynton, be sure to stop at Regeneration Coffee Shop. They also have a thrift shop and lots to see in the purple building on Main Street across from the post office.

Paynton Volunteer Firefighters are headed to Nipawin this April for fire training at the Saskatchewan Volunteer Fire Fighters Association fire school. The SVFFA puts on a three-day school twice a year in different parts of the province. This spring, the school will be in Nipawin with courses from the basic firefighters 1000 to school bus and hybrid vehicle extrication. These courses are not only to educate firefighters but also to encourage them to continue doing what they do inthe safest way possible. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer firefighter in your community, call your municipal office to find out how to join.
