MAIDSTONE — Cards were played at the Maidstone Drop In Centre Sept. 5 with high score going to Ruth Enwright and low to Cheryl McCaskill. Lunch was provided by Jean Hartman.

Regular bingo was played Sept. 7 with volunteer caller Joan Smith, who also served and provided lunch.

The September monthly meeting was held at the centre Sept. 9. Many new and old topics of business were discussed. The eaves troughs need to be cleaned before winter. Shrubs are to be trimmed. Carpets and upholstered chairs are to be cleaned. A new fee schedule for rent of the centre was proposed and will be further discussed at the next meeting. A catalogue was made available to decide on new seating for the sitting room area of the centre. Weight Watchers have disbanded and will no longer use the centre on Tuesdays.

Exercises will resume starting Oct. 12 and will be held Monday mornings at 9 a.m. Starting Oct. 5, regular Wednesday afternoon bingos will begin at 1 p.m. Monthly meetings resume Oct. 7, also at 1 p.m. The next birthday potluck luncheon will be held at noon Oct. 19 followed by bingo.

At close of the September meeting lunch was served and provided by Joyce Weston.

In my report regarding the come and go tea held for my 90th birthday Aug. 30, I thanked the two ladies who served the tea and coffee. I neglected to thank all who made the sandwiches and donated food and helped prepare the lunch. I hereby publicly apologize for the unintended oversight.
