The deep blanket of snow gives a whole new meaning to going for a walk with the dog. This pooch seems happy enough although longer legs might be on his Christmas list.

We all witnessed the fury of winter at the beginning of the week. With snow plummeting down Sunday night and Monday morning, many awoke to a fresh blanket of the white stuff. Some of the country buses were cancelled Monday. The children who were privileged enough to have an unscheduled long weekend enjoyed the fresh palette of snow in which they could play.

To wake up in the morning to what looked like the first snow fall was a joy, but that slowly turned to misery when it was time to shovel. The usually quick routine took quite a bit more time with the newly fallen snow weighing heavy on the shovel. A perfect time for the neighborhood children to grab their shovels and start making some extra money!

The surrounding highway conditions were far less than perfect this week but throughout the days the plows were out and about maintaining them. Winds picked up ensuring you could feel the sting of winter on your cheeks. Yet another cold reminder that winter's here to stay.

Here's to hoping that by the time Christmas arrives, the weather will agree with us and stay away!
