Cribbage was played at the Maidstone Drop In Centre April 21. High score went to Dorothy Schwartz and low to Denise Newton. Jean Hartman provided lunch.
Bingo was played April 22 with Jean Smith and Margaret MacEachern doing the calling. Lunch was provided by Irene Kerr assisted by Norman Hougan.
The Saskatchewan Seniors Fitness Association held their annual meeting and fun day at Maidstone April 23. The Maidstone seniors had muffins and coffee ready for the visitors, who came from Rosetown, Unity, North Battleford, Hafford, Cut Knife, Baldwinton, Turtleford, St. Walburg and Maidstone.
Registration was at 8:30 a.m. following which a number went to bowl and some stayed at the centre to play cribbage. A soup, sandwich and dessert lunch was served at noon to the 38 seniors who attended.
Doreen Hope of Maidstone co-ordinated the event with the Maidstone seniors as hosts. A number of door prizes were drawn for. Winners were Edie Thomas and Ron Ogg of Rosetown, Doris Rendle of St.. Walburg, Noel Coulthard, Lil McMillan, Shannon Smith, Jean Stewart, Jean Smith, Dorothy Harmel and Dorothy Schwartz all of Maidstone. Grand prize of a potted plant was won by Edna Foster of Rosetown.
Following lunch we were entertained by elementary school children who, under the tutelage of teacher Kathy Franks, played the piano. The children were going to the music festival in Lloydminster the next week.
Winners of cribbage were Margaret MacEachern, Joan Smith and Dorothy Schwartz.
Bowling winners were: high ladies' scores - Edna Foster, runners up Norma Hougan and Noel Coulthard; men's high score - Ron Ogg, Morris Coulthard of Maidstone and Harold Bullock of North Battleford.
Ollie Marciniuk of Hafford chaired the meeting. He called for a minute of silence in memory of Walter Pooler of Cut Knife, a long time and devoted board member who passed away this winter.
Edna Foster presented the financial report for the year.
Ron Ogg gave an update of the playdown to be held in Rosetown May 31. Winners from there have the opporunity to go to the provincials in July in Humboldt and from there to nationals in Sherwood Park, Alta.
Seniors keeping fit is their objective. Following the annual meeting a board meeting was held after which seniors found their ways home before dark.
