We were saddened to hear of the passing of Mabel Stewart, a long-time member of the centre. Mabel and her husband Bill were dedicated members when our new centre opened. Mabel was sports minded and took part in the carpet bowling, ladies' pool, shuffleboard and horseshoes besides cards and other activities. After her health failed she had to live at Pine Island Lodge and could no longer take part. Her cheery disposition was missed.
Thank you to the town workers who marked, in yellow, the drop off area up to the front door of the centre. Hopefully this will keep visitors from parking their vehicles and blocking the entrance. Thanks go to Shannon Smith for seeing this got done. The Drop In building was designed for drop off or pick up of passengers under the protective canopy at all times.
Catch the Ten Whist was played Sept. 22 with high score going to Dorothy Schwartz and low to Lil McMillan. Cribbage was played with high going to Dorothy Kissick and low to Denise Newton. Lunch was provided by Dorothy Schwartz.
Windows and doors are being spruced up with paint. It is nice weather for it. Harvest is in full swing and you can hear machines running far into the night.
