Shrubs planted more than 20 years ago by Alex Baudenbacher are in full bloom and looking lovely. Judith and Doug Holmberg are looking after the flowerbeds and are doing a great job.

Cards were played June 23 with high score going to Lil McMillan and low to Bev Stewart. Dorothy Schwartz was in charge of lunch, but forgot. Thawed-out cookies had to make do. Sorry about that. Old age takes it toll!

The May, June, July potluck luncheon was held June 25. Seated at the birthday table were Lawrence Den Ouden, Denise Newton, Shannon Smith, Lil McMillan, Bev Stewart, Irene and James Kerr, Eleanor and Allen Hinde and Norma Lott. Missing were Doreen Hope and Norma Hougen. A delicious lunch was served to the 25 members who signed the guest book. Bingo was to be played in the afternoon, but was cancelled as some of the members wanted to attend the funeral of Duncan Mitchell, a long time resident of the Maidstone area.

Bingo was played June 20 with Margaret MacEachern doing the calling. Lunch was looked after by Jean Hartman and Denise Newton. There will be no card or bingo sessions hosted at the centre during July and August.

Long time member of the centre, Milt McMillan, passed away July 1 at the age of 99. He was an avid card player and his ever-present smile and cheerfulness will be missed.
