The regular activities for the Maidstone Drop In Centre have started for the fall season with 500 cards being played on Labour Day. High score went to Jean Stewart and low to Eva Inkster. There was a good turnout for bingo Sept. 5, with Jean Smith and Margaret MacEachern doing the calling. The loonie pot was divided between Bev Stewart and Dorothy Schwartz. Lunch was provided by Jean and Shannon Smith.

During the summer, seniors catered to two funeral teas. One for Garry Corker and one for a former member, Jessie Bettcher.

The July-August birthday was held Aug. 22 with a small attendance. Seated at the birthday table were Lil McMillan, Shannon Smith and Denise Newton. Missing were Norma Hougan, Keith Weston, Margaret MacEachern and Dorothy Schwartz.

Fitness exercises geared for seniors will start at 9 a.m Mondays. The first Monday at 2 p.m., will be 500 cards, the second Monday Kaiser, third Monday Catch the Ten whist and the fourth Monday Cribbage. If the month has five Mondays, games of choice will be played. Yoga will be held Mondays and Wednesdays at 7 p.m. Bingo will be held Wednesdays at 2 p.m. The monthly meeting is the first Monday in the month at 2 p.m.

The first meeting of the fall season was held Sept. 7 with a good attendance. New chairs arrived during the summer. Because of the small attendance at the July-August potluck birthday supper, it was decided to incorporate May, June and July birthday potluck and the August, September, party.

It was decided to have potlucks at noon with entertainment to follow. In the future, anyone renting our centre for a special event will be required to set up table and chairs in advance and put them away following the event.

A big thanks goes to Owen Rhinehart for cutting the lawn all summer at no charge. It was much appreciated.

The September-October pot luck birthday will be held Oct.19 at noon.

Kaiser was played Sept. 10 with Ben Stewart providing lunch assisted by Lil McMillan. High score went to Dorothy Schwartz and low to Ben Stewart.
