Paynton library ladies pulled off another fun and delicious family Halloween event Tuesday.

Kicking off the evening was a pumpkin carving contest with prizes in all age categories followed by a super spread of fall inspired dishes. Many turned up to participate in the annual event, mostly carving veterans, but some new faces as well.

Kids of varied ages played basketball in between carving and eating, as the judges looked over and discussed the merits of each jack-o-lantern. After carefully choosing the winners, prizes were handed out and the kitchen doors opened.

Such a selection of food is usually only found on Thanksgiving at Baba's place, with more dishes than people. Pans and casserole dishes filled with steaming hot comfort food were followed by several choices of pumpkin inspired dessert. Even though I am now an empty nester, I can't wait to do it all again next year.
