The ladies of Riverbend Fellowship Church held a salad supper May 13 in the Borden Seniors' Room, with close to 30 out to enjoy a great variety of salads. Special music was provided by Becky Loewen, Shauna Schmidt and Lori Janz of Waldheim.

Guest speaker was Linda Chamagne from the Bridge on 20th Fellowship Centre in Saskatoon. The centre came into being 12 years ago, to bring hope to many who have no hope, to those who are lonely, to the addicted and disenfranchised.

They opened with $120 budget and one full-time volunteer, and now have 250 visitors a day, serve over 1,250 meals per week and now have an operating budget of $250,000. The centre employs seven full-time and three part-time staff.

The Bridge would like to offer transitional program housing to help the homeless and broken people and hope to raise enough money to buy land and renovate and expand, with the help of many donations, at a cost of $2.5 million.

Chamagne also spoke about her life as a Métis. She said she moved from drug and alcohol addictions to turning her life over to Jesus and getting the Bridge started.

To donate or learn more about the program go to www.thebridge20.com or call 306-382-2855.

Door prizes of pansies wrapped in gold foil and placed in small pastel painted watering cans went to Diane Tracksell, Laura Loeppky, Elizabeth Derksen, June Nichol, Deanna Wall, Ann Brand, Anne Palmer, Linda Chamagne, Lori Janz, Marie Ann Williams and Becky Loewen.

The Borden Friendship Club held their monthly business meeting May 11.
