The Allen Sapp Gallery invites you to a special opening reception on Saturday, June 9 from 7 to 9 p.m.

"Nohkum - Grandmother" is the new exhibition and the opening will feature Daphie Pooyak speaking on the role of women and Ross Paskemin presenting the role of the drum.

This collection of Allen Sapp's paintings of his grandmother helps bring together the voices of First Nations women to share their wisdom and teaching.

The same day the Allen Sapp Gallery will host is a Willow Weaving workshop with Oriol Dancer. It will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dancer will show participants the basic techniques for using willow to create structures. Participants will create a fence for the Healing Garden located behind the gallery. Registration fee is $10. Call the gallery at 445-1760 to register.

Don't miss the mentorship workshop at the Chapel Gallery June 12 from 7 to 9 p.m. Join curator Michael Brokop for a guided video presentation that explores other artistic works. Call the Chapel at 445-1757 to register.

Both galleries are now open on their summer schedule. The Allen Sapp Gallery is open daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Chapel Gallery is open daily from noon to 5 p.m. Support for the galleries is provided by the Saskatchewan Arts Board, the City of North Battleford, Saskatchewan Lotteries and RBC Wealth Management Dominion Securities - Rongve, Gabruch, Schell and Weikle Wealth Management.
