It has been a busy few weeks at Maymont Central School. Soccer, coached by Ryan and Krista Nickell, with assistance from Rachel McAllister, is in full swing. Both the girls and boys attended a two-day tournament in North Battleford. The tournament was hosted by Cando and Poundmaker.

There were six girls' teams in attendance. The Maymont team won two games, lost two games and tied one. They finished third overall.

There were 10 teams on the boys' side. Maymont played four games in the tournament. They played some good first halves and even held a few leads in the games. Unfortunately, they ran out of steam and finished with a 0-4 record.

The boys were sporting their new pink jerseys. The jerseys were sponsored by Kare Ag Services and JayDee AgTech. The boys are collecting donations for breast cancer research. If you would like to donate, please send your donations to Maymont Central School, Box 129, Maymont, SK. S0M 1T0.

The teams also hosted Poundmaker for games last week.

Our annual Terry Fox walk was held Sept. 27. It was a beautiful morning as all the staff and students walked to raise money for cancer research and to honour Terry's memory. At the halfway point, students and staff signed a banner that hangs in the school. We are proud of this tradition.

Ty Ellis, a graduate from our school last year, is in Odessa, Texas, on a rodeo scholarship. His specialty has always been bull riding. We wish him all the best in Texas.

Carter Amson, a Grade 12 student, is attending school in Lethbridge, Alta., as he is trying out for the Lethbridge Hurricanes. We wish him all the very best.

The junior girls' volleyball team hosted a six-team tournament Sept. 28. The girls played well and finished third in their pool. They lost their playoff game to Kerrobert. Thanks to their coach, Kandice Walker, for all her organization. The food at the booth was delicious. Thanks to everyone who came out to watch.

The senior girls' volleyball team attended the large Mega-Volley tournament in Maidstone. This is a large tournament and teams look forward to it every year. Congratulations to the girls for playing well.
