The Borden Threshermen's Club held their annual potluck supper and program in the Borden Community Centre, Feb. 8. Close to 70 turned out for a great meal with a variety of dishes and desserts.

Bill Fairbrother was MC and introduced the performers from Radisson - Dave and Laurie Summers and David and Inda Petriew, whose group name is Strange Brew. They played and sang a number of songs, from rock and roll to country and western to gospel. Songs included Rolling on the River, Wake Up Little Susie, I'm a Believer, I'll Fly Away and Amazing Grace. They closed with Dave imitating Elvis, singing Blue Suede Shoes.

The Borden senior boys' curling team did well in district curling in Blaine Lake Feb. 7 and 8, winning the senior boys' event and advancing to regional playoffs in Rosthern Feb. 14 and 15. Playing for Borden were skip Dallas Burnett, Eric Westad, Andrew Derksen and Graham Sargent. The following week, Dallas, Eric, Andrew and Tyler Camm - instead of Graham - will be curling in the Saskatchewan Winter Games in Prince Albert. Congratulations, boys, and good luck at the regionals and winter games.

The Borden and Radisson volunteer firefighters held a training session in Borden Feb. 8 and the seniors' club provided the noon lunch of soup, sandwiches, dessert and beverages for a total of 12 firefighters. Everyone appreciates the work volunteer firefighters do and the time they take from their busy schedules to take extra training.
