HUMBOLDT — Humboldt’s Canada 150 mosaic is one part of a nationwide whole. A new book will allow residents to see what that whole looks like.
The mosaic in Humboldt, located on the western side of 710 Main St., takes the form of a train car. In other communities across the country are similar mosaics, that when put together as a whole creates a train.
The 200-page coffee table book contains pictures of all of the mosaics from coast to coast and explains the meaning behind the art. It was the result of a Kickstarter campaign that raised more than $35,000.
The murals were created in 2015 to celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday, and are each made of dozens of four each tiles painted by the members of the community, said Jennifer Fitzpatrick, Humboldt’s cultural art services director.
Books can be found at the Humboldt and District Museum, with all proceeds from their sale are going directly to the Humboldt Public Art Committee to create future art for the community.
