The May-June potluck birthday noon lunch was held at the Maidstone Drop In Centre June 22 with 22 seniors present. Seated at the birthday table were Bev Stewart, Dorothy Harmel and Helen Ross. Following the noon luncheon, games of choice were played for the afternoon. The door prize was won by Norma Hougan.
Cribbage was played June 25 with Jean Hartman hosting and supplying lunch. High score went to Dorothy Kissick with a perfect score. Low went to visitor Hazel MacEachern.
Bingo was played June 27 with Joan Smith and Margaret MacEachern doing the calling. Lunch was provided by Dorothy Kissick and Jean Hartman.
The only scheduled event for July and August at the centre will be the July-August potluck supper at 5 p.m. Aug. 24. Seniors are invited to come in the afternoon to play games of their choice prior to supper.
I recently travelled to Leroy to visit my grandson and wife and two great-grandsons. I had an interesting tour of a small factory where my grandson works in Humboldt. They supply portable stages, accessories, stairs and railing all over North America. The crops in that area are not as far advanced as here and show a lot of yellowing due to too much moisture. Several farmers just on the other side of Saskatoon were in the fields still seeding.
The seniors' centre members took part in the July 1 celebrations by running the bingo from 4 to 6 p.m. Thank you to Bev Stewart and Dorothy Harmel, who assisted me.
