Condolences are extended to the family of Marcella Kulig, a long-time resident of Borden who had been living in Saskatoon and passed away April 19. Marcella had been the cook at Borden Union Hospital for many years and also taught many to knit and crochet in the Borden area. Her funeral service was April 23 in St. John's Cathedral, Saskatoon.

An 80th birthday party was held April 19 in the Radisson Lutheran Church, lower hall, for Norah Bronsch, who now resides in Saskatoon. Twyla Stott, daughter living in Radisson, introduced all the members of the family present. Another daughter, Lana Morin gave a bit of history of Norah. Norah grew up at Asquith, taught school north of Radisson and married a Radisson farmer - Norman. They later had an auction business, selling at farm auctions around the country. Wilmer Hamp then sang three selections and everyone enjoyed a bounteous lunch.

The Borden farmers market held their annual meeting April 16 at the home of Eileen Petrun, with 10 members on hand. Fire Chief Terry Tkaczyk spoke to the members, stating the fire trucks can no longer be parked on the street on market days and will be parked in front of the big double door with no one allowed to park in front of them. They will be doing renovations during the summer but hopefully will not disrupt the market.

The fees remain the same - $5 membership, $4 annual dues and $4 weekly stall rental. The board of directors was voted to remain the same: president Lorraine Olinyk, secretary Karen Kerr, treasurer Connie Kenakin, vice-president Helen Sutherland and director at large Rita Shukin.

The summer markets will begin Friday, May 2 and will run from11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Borden Fire Hall and will be every Friday until Oct. 10. Lorraine and United Church members will again be offering burgers and hot dogs and there will be pie available for lunch.

The market always carries $2 million in liability insurance through a local broker, at a cost of over $600, and also buys a Village of Borden business licence. In 2013 the market donated to the Borden firefighters, Radisson Ag Society, Borden Grad 2014 and gives the village rental for the fire hall.

The Christmas sale is booked for Dec. 6 and those who do not attend at least seven summer markets will pay double the table rent at the December market in the hall. At least nine of the vendors will be at the first market and later in May two or more will be attending.
