The ARC Creative Studios Gallery, located at 1106 -101st St. in North Battleford, is hosting its first exhibition of paintings entitled CENTERED from local artist Chris Hodge.
Hodge is primarily an abstract painter influenced by colour field painters such as Mark Rothko and Helen Frankenthaler and abstract expressionists like Jackson Pollock and Joan Mitchell.
Hodge has a great admiration for colour and works daily on his canvas images. He ponders on each work and progresses after much reflection, admiring what has happened on the canvas and what colour he feels needs to be added to bring about a centered work of art.
"Colour and simplicity are my main concerns when painting and I like to use layers of paint, leaving a deep and hopefully mystical impression on the viewer," Hodge says.
This exhibition of his current work speaks to this statement.
The exhibition will be available for viewing Fridays from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. and Saturdays from noon until 4 p.m.
The ARC Creative Studios Gallery features ARC members’ works and invites other artists to showings. ARC Creative Studios has now been operational for almost a year in its current location with 13 working artists.
