The Notre Dame Catholic Women's League annual campaign against pornography, "White Ribbon of Signatures," took place at masses at Notre Dame Church Oct.18 and 19.

A white ribbon and two postcards depicting a child with a tear on her cheek and the caption "pornography hurts" were distributed. The ribbons were to be worn while the postcards were signed with name, address and a personal message (if desired) and then mailed.

One was to go to the House of Commons and to MP Gerry Ritz, while the other went to Peter MacKay, minister of Justice and attorney general of Canada.

Oct. 18, the CWL hosted a luncheon for two speakers in Notre Dame Church. In the morning Father Iheanyi spoke on "Claiming God's Promises." Gisele Bauche talked about "Praying the Psalms." Both presentations were interesting and informative.

Nov. 22, Bauche will present "Healing a Wounded Heart."

With the theme, "We Have Seen The Lord" in the faces of African and Canadian women, St. Vital CWL hosted the annual regional fall CWL workshop. Several of Notre Dame members attending, including the president and Father Cuong, were inspired by guest speaker Father Peter Nnanga's presentation about African culture and life in Nigeria. Our sister league in Nigeria is called the Catholic Women's Organization or CWO. He stated that women are the root of our church, we're to keep up our work or the world will be poorer without it.

Oct. 26 the CWL hosted a fall supper at the Knights of Columbus Hall with around 500 people attending or having takeout. Many thanks to our parish members, who once again showed great support with their contributions and hard work.
