In the intimate and warm atmosphere of the Centre francophone des Battleford, March 10, singer-song writer Annette Campagne filled the air with songs from blues to gospel. Annette Campagne is the fourth artist this year to visit the Battlefords to share with anyone who enjoys music and the French culture an evening of entertainment.

Originally from the small southern town of Willowbunch, Saskatchewan, Annette Campagne has gone far with her music. She was a key member of the music groups Folle Avoine and Hart Rouge. Along with her sisters and her brother, they have accomplished an impressive music career including six albums, many successful radiophonique and numerous tours across Canada, the United States and eastern Europe.

In 1996, Annette decided to change her approach and try her talents as a solo artist.

She launched her first album Sauter de haut, managed by Marc Pérusse under the "Zéro musique" label. It included numerous number one hits such as: Le coeur est sourd, Mon égo and Sauter de haut. Her success allowed her to open for renown artists such as Luc DeLarochelière, Claude Dubois and Laurence Jalbert.

Expanding her passion for music, Annette launched her first English album entitled You Gotta Laugh in 2009 which became a big success. Her optimistic attitude is reflected through her songs. High on life and love, her joy is seriously contagious. Her latest album J'peux pas demander mieux was launched in spring 2010.

Her style of music is a combination of contemporary folk, pop and rock with the voice of soul. She is the French Canadian version of Sheryl Crow. During her present tour, she plays her own compositions and also some classics by James Taylor and Bonnie Raitt, her childhood idols.

Such presentations are thanks to the organization Chemins chez nous that makes it possible for local artists to tour the western provinces in a smaller and simpler setting and also keeping the expenses of those hosting the artist to a minimum. The Centre francophone des Battleford plans on welcoming more artists in the future thanks to such partnerships.
