90th birthday celebration

Many thanks to the people of the community and friends who are generous and kept us supplied with fresh garden produce. The heat and humidity of the summer was not too appreciated.

Many thanks to the people of the community and friends who are generous and kept us supplied with fresh garden produce.

The heat and humidity of the summer was not too appreciated. However, it proved beneficial to the gardens, which promise a good yield of vegetables this fall.

Noella Sayers has a birthday which falls on Christmas Eve. This year, she decided to celebrate her 90th on Aug. 12, with a small birthday party in the lounge. It was enjoyed by family and many friends, including us, her neighbours. We wish her many happy returns of the day, either in August or December.

Our sympathy to Denis Roger in the recent passing of his sister.

It was time to have some indoor fun so we held a shuffleboard tournament Aug. 30. Hot dogs, beans and potato salad provided a tasty lunch for players and spectators. Joan Bannerman polished the board and kept score meticulously. Hard working referees were Alice Horn, Phyllis Maloney and Ruth Hrynewich. These are the winners and runners up in each event: A event - Lise Watch and Mary Zawada, Dorreen Svare and Amelie Murray: B event - Alice Horn and Shirley Leite, Phyllis Maloney and Ken Elliott; C event - Madeleine Blouin and Mae Johnson, Betty Moore and Frank Strong; D event - Ruth Hrynewich and Olga Gresiuk, Lillian Leduc and Muriel Johnson

Thank you to Dorreen Svare and her helpers for faithfully attending to the kitchen duties.

Some of our residents have moved to other areas of the city. May they find happiness in their new locations. A warm welcome to many new residents. May they find joy and contentment in Towers 1.

Get well wishes to all those who have medical concerns and are not feeling well at this time.
