90th birthday celebrated with friends and family

A 90th birthday tea was held for Ann Kohut of Borden, Aug. 25 in the Borden Seniors' Room, with friends and relatives present including her brother Ben (Carol) Herman of Krydor, sister Helen Taylor of Hafford, nephew Andy and Cathy Herman and their three boys of Martensville.

Jean Hryniuk welcomed everyone and, as a friend of Ann's for over 60 years, read a heartfelt poem on Being Friends. Everyone enjoyed cheese and fruit bread with beverages, the cake was cut and everyone sang Happy Birthday and enjoyed a piece of cake.

Radisson Ag Society high point winners not previously printed include: section 4 roots and veggies - Loretta Flath, Connie Verishine and Darlene Kindt; garden fruits - Darlene Kindt, Connie Verishine and Shantel Amson; section 6 canned goods - Martha Lessing, Loretta Flath and Doris Hamp; section 7 domestic products - Miriam Loessin tied for third with Darlene Kindt; section 8 needlework - first, Charlotte Beaudoin and Alma Loessin, third, Loretta Flath and Sandra Flath; section 9 - Linda Yuskiw was third; section 11 crafts (open) - C. Beaudoin, Chris Donaldson and Savannah Thompson; section 13 photography - Vicky Clayton, Bill Sherlock and Chris Donaldson; section 14 junior photography - Savannah Thompson, Kailee Popowich and Jocelyn Bzdel; section 15 junior art - Audrey Friesen, Jan Friesen and Kailee Popowich; section 16 pre-school and kindergarten - Parker Miller, Kaiden Borowski and Carter Miller; section 17, 6 - 12 years junior work - Kailee Popowich, Alyssa Popowich and Arin Amson; section 18 teenagers - Shantel Amson and, tied for second, Jan Friesen and Audrey Friesen.

In the school work category, section 19, winners were: kindergarten - Steele Johnson, Jeremy Flath and, tied for third, Cash Bzdel and Ben Hosegood; Grade 1 - Grace Pain and Ella Failler tied for first, Luke Schensney third; Grade 2 - Karter Johnson, Sydney Schmidt and Hunter Reid; Grade 3: Landen Beaudoin; Grade 4: Courtney Yaseniuk, Alyssa Popwich and Ward Johnson; Grade 5 - Arin Amson, Kraten Beaudoin and Paige Pain; Grade 6 - Reeve Johnson, Kailee Popowich and Justin Yaseniuk.

In the light horse show the judge was Cal Jackson of Limerick and there were 35 entries. In peewee (eight and under) Hunter Matycio and Caslyn McLean got first in classes, and third and fourth in novelty. In lead-line, eight and under, Elissa McLean was first and the youngest competitor at three years of age; second were Carter and Seth McIntosh. In the C division, for those 11 and under, Taylor Bradshaw had five firsts; Katy Bradshaw had one first, four seconds and a third; Kylie Wilms had three thirds and a fourth and Teaira Tracksell had one third and three fourths. In junior A (15 - 17 years), Josie Sparrow was first in her classes and Chantelle McLeod second.

For the adults Nicole Brown had four firsts and two seconds; Kim Demeyon had three seconds and three thirds; Brittany Bereas had a first and Brenda Hagel had a first, second and a third. None of these placings include the English riding classes results.

High point awards went to Taylor Bradshaw in junior C, Cyane Sperle in junior B (12 - 14 years), Josie Sparrow in Junior A (15 - 17) and Kimberly Demyon in adult.

One correction to a previous report is that Tina (nee Noehring) was not mentioned as one of the executors of the Radisson time capsule.
