Well it's not Roy Roger and Dale Evans, but Dean and June Roger, who were married 60 years in January, are celebrating their anniversary April 19. Congratulations.
A little history written by June in the Solar to Sod red book - boy, am I ever thankful for that book some days, just changed a few things.
Dean Oliver Rogers, son of Oliver and Marion Rogers and June Clayton, daughter of Frank and Marjorie Clayton, were married on the cold winter day of Jan. 30, 1954. They lived with Dean's parents for a while. In August 1954, a daughter, Margaret June, was born.
During November 1954, they moved into a small house in Dean's parents' yard. They called it home until the late fall of 1956 when they moved to the former Ernie Ramsey farm, having bought this half section in the spring of that year. Also in May 1956, another daughter, Yvonne Marie, was born. In June 1958, the last of their family, a son, David Dean, arrived on the scene.
Eventful years followed, raising a family and struggling to get ahead. The children all attended Maymont Central School, being transported there by school bus. When Margaret started in the fall of 1960, the old school was still there but, when she started Grade 2, it was to the new school which is presently there.
There was more written in the history book. If you have a chance, check it out. When it was written, they had celebrated their 25th anniversary. June closed saying they had many eventful years and it had gone by so fast with so many changes, it makes one wonder what the next 25 will bring. Guess she would have lots to say about them also.
We wish you all the best, June and Dean.
One by one each year flew by, since you both said "I do." Sixty years of memories, shared by the two of you, from big events and holidays to simple daily pleasures, some tearful times along life's way, some joys that can't be measured. One by one each year now gone, but still they're yours forever; each and every memory of 60 years together. Happy diamond anniversary!

We enjoy the suppers whenever we attend especially the pie - yum - but that day we will be eating birthday cake in Las Vegas.
A potluck supper will be hosted at Ruddell Community Hall, Tuesday, April 22. Meal time is 6 p.m. and everyone is welcome.
