A drop-in flu clinic was held at the Manitou Health Centre during the late afternoon and evening of Thursday, Jan. 30, providing an opportunity for those local residents who had not yet been immunized to obtain their protection from the flu virus.
The 16 upcoming graduates from Neilburg Composite School are conducting their annual fruit and cookie dough fundraising drive to help pay for their graduation festivities. Finishing their high school journey this year are Jonah Biensch, Carl Cammidge, Janessa Mackenzie, Brandon Morgan, Ashley Ostrom, Kasey Schmidt, Kody Smith, Kaibre Watson, KinCaid Cameron, Laura Hegel, RJ Milne, Corbin Murphy, Quinton Ryan, Danielle Scott, Coleman Tyler and Mikayla Watson.
Contact the school or any graduate if you are interested in purchasing tree-ripened oranges or grapefruit, or apples that are free from "alar" and colouring spray. Pears, sparkling juice and pure apple juice, are also available. The group is also selling three-pound pails of cookie dough in six different flavours.
Rod and Dorothy Davis hosted a health and wellness gathering in the Neilburg library, Feb. 8. The guest speaker was Jane Junker of Penticton, B.C., who spoke about the benefits of using essential oils to enhance your health.
Sympathy is extended to the family and friends of Vernon Archibald Graham who died Dec. 16, 2013, in Lloydminster at the age of 94. He had just celebrated his last birthday Dec. 4. The memorial service for Vernon was conducted from the Marsden Community Hall, Dec. 20. Interment was held in the Normanna Cemetery near Marsden.
Vernon Graham is survived by his wife, Barbara Graham of Lloydminster; two children, Lyndon and Nadine Graham of Sturgeon County, Alta., and Shirley and Bill Jamieson of Edmonton, Alta.; a daughter-in-law, Myrna Graham of Marsden; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and sister Myrtle Holmedal of Lloydminster, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Vernon was predeceased by his son, Larry Graham; brother, George Graham; and sisters, Gladys Sirrs, Dorothy Thorsen, Eileen Dow and Eleanor Cooper.
