Once the under-13 diamond is constructed and the multisport court is built, the under-11 ball diamond will be moved.

NIPAWIN – The Town of Nipawin will be relocating two ball diamonds to the grounds adjacent to the water treatment plant.

Chelsea Corrigan, General Manager of Leisure Services said, “There has always been the desire to have all four minor ball diamonds together. This relocation achieves that, as well, the location of the under-13 ball diamond is the site that was selected for the placement of the multisport court.”

Moving the ball diamonds to the water treatment plant grounds will avoid disrupting the current soccer pitches, allowing uninterrupted use for soccer activities. The grounds offer ample space for the ball diamonds, ensuring that both diamonds can be accommodated without the need for extensive reconfiguration, Corrigan said.

Plans to have the multisport court constructed are in the works for the summer of 2025.

The town estimates the cost to be approximately $50,000.

“We plan to do as much of the move in house as possible. These costs are based on another municipality's construction of a ball diamond.” said Corrigan. Moving the ball diamonds to the water treatment plant grounds will avoid disrupting the current soccer pitches, allowing uninterrupted use for soccer activities.

The Town of Nipawin currently has four minor ball diamonds (11U, 13U, 15U and 18U) and four slo-pitch diamonds.

Corrigan said it will affect the under-13 teams this coming ball season. Nipawin Minor Ball will work around this and move the under-13 teams to other diamonds for the short term.

This is phase one of the relocation. Once the under-13 diamond is constructed and the multisport court is built, the under-11 ball diamond will be moved.
