Police seize multiple weapons after arresting wanted man

HUMBOLDT - Saskatchewan RCMP’s North Battleford Crime Reduction Team and Humboldt Detachment have arrested a man wanted on multiple warrants from three police agencies for a total of 22 charges. 

The 24-year-old man, from Yorkton, was wanted by Yorkton RCMP, Saskatoon Police Service and Moose Jaw Police Service on seven warrants for charges relating to failing to stop for police, flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, theft of a motor vehicle, driving while prohibited, breach of release order, fail to comply with a release order and mischief.

On Nov. 22, officers determined the suspect was at a home on 11 Street in Humboldt. Police contained an area around the residence to ensure public safety, and the Saskatchewan RCMP’s Crital Incident Response Team (CIRT) attended the scene to assist with the arrest.

Following approximately two hours of negotiation, the accused exited the residence and was arrested without incident.

A woman was also arrested at the scene. She was released without charges.

Officers executed a search warrant at the residence, where they located and seized five firearms and ammunition. A vehicle that had been reported as stolen near Lake Lenore on Oct. 10 was also recovered at the property.

As a result of additional investigation, the suspect has also been charged with: resisting/obstructing peace officer; uttering threats against a person; possession of a firearm when knowing possession unauthorized; possession of restricted firearm with ammunition without licence or registration; possession of weapon for dangerous purpose; unsafe storage of firearms; tampering with a serial number; possession of property obtained by crime less than or equal $5,000; fail to comply with release order condition; and weapons possession contrary to order and fail to surrender authorization.
