WADENA — The Saskatchewan NDP has named Lorne Schroeder as their candidate in Kelvington–Wadena for the next provincial election.
Schroeder was nominated by local Saskatchewan NDP members Dec. 9.
“I am honoured to be the Saskatchewan NDP candidate in Kelvington–Wadena,” said Schroeder. “The future of our province is so bright. We need a government that will ensure the best future for my family, your family, and everyone in Saskatchewan.”
Schroeder told SASKTODAY.ca that he hopes to prioritize agriculture and the growing need to ensure risk management strategies for the stability for farmers. He wants to take advantage of how the province can capitalize on agriculture sustainability. The candidate also said that he wants to focus on making sure education is equitable to rural students. Homelessness and healthcare was also an area focus for him.

"I can’t wait to get out and listen to our constituent's because Saskatchewan has so much to offer," he said. "We can do better, politics has become far too polarizing and parties pitting against each other. We want to find common goals and fix the problems. We want a Saskatchewan where every person, regardless of your race, creed or colour, can live and work together, and be leaders in our communities.”
“I am so happy to have a community minded candidate like Lorne here in Kelvington–Wadena,” said Saskatchewan NDP Leader Carla Beck. “His experience as an organic beef farmer and years of service to his community shows me Lorne will truly do what is best for his community. I know that the people of KelvingtonvWadena would be extremely well served with Lorne as their MLA.”
Lorne Schroeder was the Saskatchewan NDP candidate for Melfort in the 2018 byelection and the 2020 provincial election. Due to a change in boundaries, Schroeder's home of LeRoy is now in Wadena-Kelvington.
