HUMBOLDT – The Humboldt Broncos have hired Brayden Klimosko as the 2024/2025 head coach and general manager.
Klimosko was born and raised in Humboldt and has roots in the community of Humboldt. As a hockey player he was one of many who took to the ice at the Elgar Peterson Arena as a child. Klimosko played three full seasons with the Humboldt Broncos winning two SJHL Championships and one national Championship.
“It’s something I always dreamed of. It’s really exciting to now coach the team I grew up watching and played for. It’s a special moment for me and my family. To get to be around my friends and family again and coaching the Broncos is a dream come true,” said Klimosko in the Humboldt Broncos news release.
Klimosko’s started coaching for the Humboldt Broncos as the assistant coach for three seasons in 2013-2016.
Klimosko then moved to North Battleford and was head coach for the Battlefords North Stars in 2018. After winning two more SJHL Championships with the North Stars and being named SJHL Coach of the year three times, he has become a highly regarded coach in the league.
“The Humboldt Broncos organization are thrilled that we have hired Brayden as the head coach and GM. There were many worthy applicants, and after looking at each one at different angles, no one stood out more than Brayden to represent our logo. We have every belief that he will produce an exceptional team that our community will love to watch and cheer for on the ice. Along with Assistant Coach Carter Hansen, we look forward to the upcoming season,” said Broncos President Amanda Schlachter.
This will be Klimosko's seventh season as an SJHL head coach, replacing Scott Barney.
“We have a great core group of guys coming back to Humboldt and I think we can compete with anyone in the league. I am looking forward to building a relationship with the players and demonstrating who I am as a coach and a person so that the transition from Scott to myself is seamless in September,” added Klimosko
