BJORKDALE — With September upon us, schools are busy preparing for children to walk back through their doors.

Bjorkdale School will be open for children on Tuesday, Sept. 5. Please remember to slow down in the school zone areas, be mindful of children heading to school and do not pass a school bus when it is stopped and has it’s stop hand out. Teachers for the North East School Division will return Wednesday, Aug. 30.

The Village of Bjorkdale would like to remind residents that dogs must be on a leash at all times and should not be running at large. Please respect these rules as not everyone is comfortable around dogs. If dogs are running at large, warning letters are mailed out. If your dog is caught running at large a second time, fines will be issued under the general penalty bylaw. Please respect others and keep your dogs leashed and inside a permanent fence.

Weekly Monday branch pick up: Please remember that this service is for small amounts of branches only. If the pile is more than one load, it is the home-owners responsibility to have them taken to the old landfill west of Bjorkdale. No garbage allowed. Thank you for following the rules.

Bjorkdale Minor Hockey is busy getting ready for the 2023-24 season and is hopeful that they will be able to have an under 11 team in town. If any child is interested in playing hockey this year, please contact Orin Bratton at 306.873-1757 for more information.

The village recently paved Railway Avenue from Memorial Park to just past the Post office. Please obey the weight restrictions on our streets to ensure the pavement lasts.
