BJORKDALE — Bjorkdale local, Ayden Kehrig is heading to the ESSO Cup in Vernon, B.C. on April 21 – 27, 2024. Kehrig has been playing hockey since she was a young girl and this last season, signed with the Regina Avana Rebels. The Rebels are an u18 AAA female hockey team in the Saskatchewan U18AAA league. The Rebels ended their season with a 26-3-1 with a first place record. Kehrig was a rookie ended the season with 5 assists and plays defense.
The Rebels beat Notre Dame for the Saskatchewan provincials. The Rebels went on to Western Regional final to claim victory to the u18AAA female championship against the Winnipeg Ice. With that win, it sent their team to coveted ESSO Cup. Kehrig said she’s very excited to head to Vernon and is an opportunity that doesn’t come around to everyone but her team has worked hard. Last year, the Rebels made the Esso Cup which was held in Prince Albert and placed Bronze.
The Esso Cup is the national title. Good luck, Ayden.
