NIMCHUK: Victor

The sudden and unexpected death of Mr. Victor Nimchuk 78 years, of Bruno formerly of Meacham occurred on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at his residence. Victor was born on February 22, 1936 to Joseph and Pearl (nee Koral) on the family farm near Meacham. He obtained his education at the York School. A true farmer from birth, Victor spent his entire life farming and thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of farming. He worked side by side with his dad and brother Peter learning many skills that he used through out his life. After his parents moved to Meacham he took over the family farm and continued to farm with his brother Peter and later his nephew Vince. Victor was a very dedicated son. He was always there for his mother and sister after his dad passed away. They always came first and he would be ready and willing to help them with anything needed. He also loved chauffeuring them around the country side and to visit extended family. A very talented self taught musician Victor played the accordion, banjo and saxophone in The Henry Basset Orchestra which later was known as the Country Wheat Landers. He was very close to his cousin Leonce and Jeanne Desrosier and spent many hours trapping and playing cards with them. He had many good neighbours that he spent countless time with them visiting, working and enjoying each others company. In his spare time Victor did some wood working and was very good at fixing and repairing anything that came up. In 2008 Victor moved to Prairie View in Bruno which was quite an adjustment from the life on a farm. But Victor kept busy and would have coffee at Pulvermacher's to catch up on the local happening around town. Victor was a very quiet man who loved his family very much and was very close to all his nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews he was always apart of each family. A very hard working, honest, caring and generous uncle is how they will remember him. Victor will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his sister Rose Nahorniak of Summerland, BC; sister-in-law Doreen Nimchuk of Saskatoon; and by 11 nieces, nephews and their families: Frank's children: Blaine, Cheryl and Kenney; Rose's Children: Wayne, Larry and Judy: and Peter's children: Connie, Colette, Vince, Tim and Warren. Victor was predeceased by his parents: Joseph and Pearl Nimchuk; brothers and sister: Frank, Peter and Mary; niece Maxine Nimchuk; great nephew Joey Nimchuk brother-in-law Mike Nahorniak. A Prayer Service was held on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. and the Funeral Mass was held on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. celebrated by Fr. Joe Ackerman. Both services were held from St. Agnes R.C. Church Peterson. Interment followed at St. Edward's R.C. Cemetery. Memorial Donations in Victor's memory may be directed to St. Edward's Cemetery Fund or Humboldt District Hospital Foundation. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to MALINOSKI & DANYLUIK FUNERAL HOME Humboldt.
