Vernon Engele

ENGELE: Vernon Vern was born May 4, 1955. He attended Carmel School from grade K - 8. He then graduated from Humboldt Collegiate Institute and then attended Moose Jaw Technical Institute where he obtained his Journeymen Electrician Certificate.

Vern was born May 4, 1955. He attended Carmel School from grade K - 8. He then graduated from Humboldt Collegiate Institute and then attended Moose Jaw Technical Institute where he obtained his Journeymen Electrician Certificate. On July 6, 1979, he married the love of his life, Valerie Freistadt. They made their home in Carmel, where they raised three daughters. Vernon worked at the Colonsay Potash mine where he worked as an electrician until 1985, when he quit to continue on with the family farm which consisted of hogs and grain. While seeding and harvesting he was always on the lookout for wildlife. Vernon enjoyed playing curling and fastball and competed at many tournaments and sport days. Vernon was an active member and president of the Humboldt Wildlife Federation. He was also involved with the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation as a Region One Director for 4 years. He also enjoyed teaching Hunter Safety and passing on his knowledge of firearms and firearm safety. He was an avid outdoorsman loving hunting, fishing and camping. He went on many hunting and fishing trips which many good stories came from these trips. Everyone always looked forward to the fish fry that would follow a good day of fishing. He could always be found tinkering around in his shop. He loved to socialize with family, friends and neighbors and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Above all, Vernon loved spending time with his family and was very proud and loved them all. Vernon will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife ofÌý 35 years, Valerie Engele of Carmel; his three children and five grandchildren: Vanessa (Kevin) Mollenbeck and children Caleb and Kylee of St. Gregor; Megan (Dustin) Ebner and children Ethan and Lahna of Carmel; and Nicole (Brett) Heebner and son Rayland of Estevan; his parents, Roland and Mildred Engele of Humboldt; one brother and two sisters; Danny Engele, Paulette Engele, both of Saskatoon and Geralyn (Joe) Mower of Humboldt; brother and sister-in-law, Murray (Trudy) Freistadt of Carmel and Germaine Freistadt of Humboldt; his extended family, Irene Beland, Wayne (Darlene) Payne, Judy Jones, John (Patti) Nickson; and by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Vern was predeceased by his grandparents, Henry and Elizabeth Engele; Joseph and Gertrude Lueke and in-laws, Eugene and Mary Freistadt. A Prayer Service for Vern was held on Sunday, November 30, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. and a Funeral Mass was offered on Monday, December 1, 2014 at 10:30 a.m., celebrated by Fr. Joseph Ackerman, OSB. Both services took place at St. Bruno R.C. Church, Bruno, SK. Interment followed at Our Lady Of Mount Carmel R.C Cemetery, Carmel. Memorial donations in Vern’s memory made be directed to either Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation, Pancreatic Cancer Canada or St. Bruno Parish Renovation Fund. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to MALINOSKI & DANYLUIK FUNERAL HOME Humboldt.
