The death of Veronica "Vera" Reineke (nee Znamirowski) occurred on May 1, 2013 at St. Paul's Hospital, Saskatoon. Vera was born April 30, 1925 to Karol and Paulina (Synyszyn) Znamirowski on the family farm in the Glen Elder School District near Danbury, SK. She attended Glen Elder School to grade ten, then high school in Hyas, SK and finished grade twelve at Sacred Heart Academy in Yorkton, SK. After attending Normal School in Saskatoon to train as a teacher, she taught for a year in a country school northeast of her home area, then for four years at Chelton country school in Engelfeld, SK area. On July 5, 1949 she married Charles John "Charlie" Reineke at St. Thomas Roman Catholic Church in Norquay, SK. They set up farming for two years in the Carmel district, then moved to their farm in the Conception Church area. Vera loved gardening - for most of her life she raised a large garden, the produce of which she canned or froze for her families' good eating through the rest of the year. She also loved to grow flowers, and tried many new varieties, with roses and lilies being her favorites. During the winter months she was an avid reader and also enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting and was an excellent baker and cook. In her later years she took up writing poetry, several of which were published in the Prairie Messenger Newspaper. In the fall of 2010, Vera moved into Saskatoon to live near her daughter. She is survived by daughter Vera Caroline, son Gordon (Shirley), Granddaughter Cheryl (Chris), sister Ada Kruzelnicki and her children Peter, Fred (Michael Anne) and their children Kathryn, Michelle and Jackie, Phyllis and her children Jennifer (and family), Maria and Christina, in-laws Richard (Olga) Reineke, Mrs. Gertie Reineke, Grant Dunlop, Art Crone and a number of nieces and nephews. Vera was predeceased by her husband of fifty-two years Charles J. Reineke, four infant children, parents Karol and Paulina Znamirowski, an infant brother, sister Alice and her children Kenneth and Anna, brother-in-law Joseph Kruzelnicki, godson Michael Kruzelnicki, goddaughter Donna Reineke, parents-in-law Carl and Mary Reineke, in-laws infant Johanna Reineke, Annie and Nick Huber and their son Mervin, Katie and Roman Serblowski, Martha Crone, Ted Reineke, Caroline Dunlop, niece Judy Labrash, John Strilchuk. On Sunday May 12, 2013 at 6:30 pm a Prayer and Rosary Service took place at Park Funeral Chapel. On Monday, May 13, 2013 at 10:00 am a Requiem Mass took place with Rev. Fr. Raymond Lillis officiating. Pallbearers were Peter Kruzelnicki, Phyllis Kruzelnicki, Clarence Huber, Roger Reineke, Linda Reineke, Regan Reineke, Fred Kruzelnicki and Cheryl Reineke. Interment took place at the Conception Church Cemetery near Carmel, SK beside her husband Charles. Memorial donations can be made to the Eye Care Center, Saskatoon City Hospital and St. Paul's Hospital Foundation. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Park Funeral Chapel, Saskatoon, SK
