The death of Mrs. Therese "Terry" Marie (nee Melanson) Bohn of Eastside Village, Humboldt, SK, occurred at her residence on Friday, March 30, 2012. She was 84 years of age. Terry, as she was affectionately known, was born on September 18, 1927, to Joseph and Antoinette (nee Dandenault) Melanson in the Acadian community near Radville, SK. Terry entered the workforce at an early age; she was employed as a Nanny, a housekeeper, worked at Carl's Red & White Grocery Store in Radville, and was a nurse's aide at the Prince Albert Sanitorium. A caretaker at heart, over the years, she also lovingly looked after her mother. In 1959, Terry married Reinard Bohn in Bienfait, SK. They resided there and raised two daughters. As well as tending to her on-going domestic chores, each year Terry spent innumerable hours planting and harvesting a big garden, preserving the produce, and sewing, all for the benefit of her family. When she had some leisure time, she enjoyed reading. In her later years, Terry lived in Weyburn, Watrous and, finally, Humboldt, where she had resided since 2001, making her home at Eastside Village. She loved it there and made many good, close friends. Of great importance to Terry was attending church on a regular basis and she always made sure she was taken there by Al's Taxi. The light of Terry's life was her grandchildren. She was always happy to look after them and, during their school years, looked forward to them coming to her place for lunch. The door was always open to them. In more recent years, Terry enjoyed going out for coffee, lunch, and shopping with her daughter Val and with her grandchildren whenever they were around. Terry also looked forward to phone calls from Veronica, as Veronica never missed an opportunity to call her mom on special occasions, being as she lived further away. Terry will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her two daughters and their families: Valerie (Royden) Crone of Humboldt and family, Nathan Crone (Courtney McLeod) of Hague, SK, and Vanessa Crone of North Battleford, SK; and Veronica Cook of Peterborough, ON, and son Joshua Cook of Toronto, ON; one brother, Art (Jenny) Melanson of Fort Qu'Appelle, SK; three sisters: Henrietta Barbarin of Radville, SK; Marie (Louis) Conan of Fisher Branch, MB; and Simone Melanson of Saskatoon, SK; sister-in-law, Sharon Melanson of Fort Qu'Appelle, SK; and by numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Reinard Bohn (March 17, 2003); son-in-law, John Cook; parents, Joseph and Antoinette (nee Dandenault) Melanson; two brothers: Francoise Melanson (in infancy), and John Melanson; two sisters: Jeanne (Joe) Slator, and Ann (Leo) O'Connell; and by brother-in-law, Andrew Barbarin. The Funeral Mass for Terry was held at St. Augustine R.C. Church, Humboldt, on Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at 3:00 p.m., concelebrated by Fr. Emile April and Fr. Demetrius Wasylyniuk, OSB. Others taking part were: Lorraine Johnson, crossbearer; Lydia Diener and Rita Litz, scripture readers; Vanessa Crone and Courtney, intentions; Val Crone and Veronica Cook, eulogists; Nathan Crone and Joshua Cook, urnbearers. Music ministry was provided by the St. Augustine Parish Funeral Choir. Honorary pallbearers were "all those who shared in Terry's life". Interment will take place at a later date. Memorial donations may be directed to either the St. Mary's Villa Foundation or the St. Augustine Parish Building Fund. Schuler-Lefebvre Funeral Chapel, Humboldt, SK.
