PARRY, Stella was born to Peter and Dora (Swicheniuk) Michalyca on August 14, 9129, in the Birch Hills Hospital. Stella was raised on the family farm at Tanpol, Sask., and attended Cranberry School, which was three miles away. The roads were poor and the winters were cold. When Stella was 16 years old, she went to work in Melfort. The next winter she worked in Saskatoon and that is where she met Gavin. Stella married Gavin Parry on April 21, 1949. Gavin and Stella moved to the farm at Naicam, they had neither power nor running water. In 1957, Gavin and Stella decided to move to Summerland, B.C., where Gavin's mother and sister lived. Their love of farming saw them move back to the farm at Naicam in 1960 where they built a new home on the farm. To this union, three sons were born: Wayne on December 14, 1950; Glen on December 15, 1954; and Robin on April 8, 1963. In 1980, Gavin and Stella purchased a house in Naicam and moved off the farm. Gavin and Stella loved to travel. They made many trips back and forth to B.C. to see Gavin's mother and sister. Gavin and Stella also traveled throughout North and Â鶹´«Ã½AV America and spent many winters in the U.S. with friends. After Gavin's passing in 1998, Stella continued to travel throughout the U.S., Mexico, Australia and the Caribbean with family and friends. Stella loved to play cards, do crafts, curl, garden, spend time at the lake, and spend time with her family. Stella passed away peacefully, with her family at her side, on December 17, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer. Stella was predeceased by her husband Gavin; parents, Peter and Dora Michalyca; brother Eugene Michalyca; sisters Marie Laurant and Nadine Michalyca (in infancy), and daughter-in-law Marlene Parry. Stella will be sadly missed by her three sons, Wayne (Linda Missler) of Naicam, and his children, Kelly (Nambi) Parry, Xander, Summer, and Alicia of Raddison, Sask., Koreen Turcotte, Brittany and Austin of Saskatoon, Tracy )Darren) Olson and Tyler of Red Deer; Glen (Debbie) Parry of Naicam, and their children, Tamara (Patrick Schmidtheisler) Ivy and Abby if Naicam, and Crystal Parry of Regina; Robin (Debra) Parry of Naciam, and their children, Scott Parry of Dunedin, New Zealand, Jennifer Parry of Saskatoon, and Stephanie Parry of Naicam; sister-in-law Ann Michalyca of Melfort; sister-in-law Helen (Ron) Andal of Penticton, B.C. as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral was held on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Brenda Curtis officiating. Internment followed in the Naicam Community Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the Naicam Ambulance. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Narfason's Funeral Chapel and Crematorium of Wadena, SK.
