November 10, 1917 - December 6, 2012

The death of Rosella (nee Nordick) Schmitz of Quill Plains Centennial Lodge, Watson, SK, occurred at Humboldt District Hospital on Thursday, December 6, 2012. She was 95 years of age. Rose was born to Henry and Elizabeth (nee Breker) Nordick in Englefeld. She was one of 11 children. Rose married Florentine Schmitz on August 10, 1943. They first lived in Daphne where they operated a General Store. In 1946, they moved to Watson to start a John Deere Dealership with Floren's brothers. Rose and Floren remained in Watson where they raised their family. Rose delighted in the love of her husband, their children, eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. When she took time from her busy life, she enjoyed singing, playing the guitar, piano and accordion, painting, crocheting, bowling and playing cards with family and friends. She loved to garden and cook great food for her family. Rose's love for her family was unconditional and she was an inspiration to all. She spent seven years in the wonderful care of Dr. Ockbazghi and the staff at the Quill Plains Lodge for which her family will be forever grateful. Rose will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her children: Leland (Boni) Schmitz of Whalen Bay, SK; Sylvia (Larry) Boyko of Regina, SK; Dan (Mary Lou) Schmitz of Watson, SK; and Marianne (Randy) Kwasnicia of Calgary, AB. Rosella cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Tricia (Greg) McEwen, Kristen and Jordan; Joel (Melissa) Schmitz, Brandon and Eleanora; Ryan (Leah) Schmitz, Auren; Devon Boyko, Alison Harber and Jacob; Joanna Boyko, Chris; Lindsay Kwasnicia, Braden Kwasnicia; and Florentine Schmitz. She was predeceased by her husband, Florentine Schmitz (1981); three children: Joseph (1944), Jerome (1970), and Christopher (1991); parents, Henry Sr. and Elizabeth (nee Breker) Nordick; and her ten siblings: August, Annie, Henry, John, Joseph, Marie, Fritz, Elizabeth, Clara and Eda. The Prayer Service was held at Sacred Heart R.C. Church on Sunday, December 9, 2012, at 7:30 p.m. The Funeral Mass was offered at Sacred Heart R.C. Church on Monday, December 10, 2012, at 11:00 a.m., celebrated by Fr. Darryl Millette. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the Quill Plains Centennial Lodge Activity Fund.
