It is with sadness and heavy hearts but also with thanksgiving and joy that we celebrate the long life of Rose Eckl, who returned to her eternal home on July, 20, 2016 in her 102nd year. Rose has resided at Bethany Pioneer Village in Middle Lake since 2005. The family is so very grateful to the staff at both Birch and Aspen for their most kind and compassionate care as they truly made it a family home for her. Rose was predeceased by her husband Otto in 1987; brothers Clemens and Theodore; sisters Clara Lohman and Louise Eckl; sons-in-law Ed Torfason and Randy Fleischhacker; grandson Ryan Eckl and great granddaughter Sara Maksymchuk. Rose will always be remembered and kept in a special place in the hearts of her family: Enid Fleischhacker of Kelowna, B.C; Rodger (Marjorie) of Humboldt; Audrey Torfason of Stony Plain, Alberta and children Patrick (Glenna) Schmidtz of Stoney Plain, Alberta; Kelly (Terry) Maksymchuk of Vernon, B.C; Kim Schmidtz of Cold Lake, Alberta; and also by eight great grandchildren: Katie, Olivia, and Emma Schmidtz; Samantha Raab and Brooklyn Eckl; Cory Maksymchuk; Brae and Blair Schmidtz. The Funeral Mass for Rose was held on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church, Humboldt, celebrated by Fr. Ephraim Mensah. Interment followed in St. Augustine Cemetery. Memorial Donations in Rose’s memory may be made to Bethany Pioneer Village or Humboldt District Hospital Foundation (St. Elizabeth’s Ladies Auxiliary Centennial Cardiac Endowment). Funeral Arrangements were entrusted to Malinoski & Danyluik Funeral Home, Humboldt.
