Richard "Rick" Charles Fleischhacker

October 16, 1960 - April 19, 2013

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our son, brother & friend, Rick Fleischhacker. Rick passed away at home on Friday, April 19, 2013 at the age of 52 years. Rick will be forever remembered and sadly missed by his loving partner, Gale Bregenser, his parents, Leo and Peggy Fleischhacker, his brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews: Linda (Dennis Muso), Jordan, Geoff and Shelbi (Mike Touhey), and their Dad, Ken Ramler; Cathy (Brian Wildeman), Leah (Michael Hayward) and Matt Wasylenko; Bob (Charlene), Tiana (Riley Hauser) and Brady; Grant, Tonya, Dillon and Erik, and their mother, Sheila; Scott (Bonnie), Kayden and McKena. Rick will also be missed by his precious dog Gus, who he loved so dearly. Rick's many, many friends will remember him for his love of fishing, playing cards (Kaiser), his jokes and his ability to make you smile. There was nothing better than a good long card game with Dad and his uncles. Family and friends were his priority and he always made every effort to call just to say hello. Rick would help you with anything and if he couldn't help, he always seemed to know someone who could. Rick loved photography, woodworking, listening to music, watching curling and the Riders. He loved to tease his nieces and nephews and friends' children and they loved every minute of it. He left an impression on everyone who knew him. Rick's career included working as a heavy duty mechanic, driving truck and dispatching for a transport company and working at a company renting out construction equipment. Health problems in recent years took their toll on Rick and although he tried so hard to remain positive, it was all too much for him to overcome. Rick's spirit will live on in the many happy memories and love that we shared. May you rest in peace Rick. The Funeral Mass was held at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church on Friday, April 26, 2013 at 2:00 p.m., celebrated by Fr. Gregory Roth. Others taking part were: Harvey Fleischhacker, crossbearer; Grant Fleischhacker, urnbearer; Leah Hayward and Tiana Fleischhacker, scripture readers; Geoff Ramler, intentions; Scott and Bonnie Fleischhacker, Kayden and McKena Fleischhacker, giftbearers; Terry Struck and Alice Germann, eucharistic ministers; Sally Freriks and Ardele Hautzinger, memorial table attendants; Alan, David and Les Fleischhacker, Lionel Fraser, Murray and Brad Heck, and all those who shared in Rick's life, honorary pallbearers. Interment will be held at a later date. Memorial donations can be directed to either the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the St. Augustine Parish Centre Fund.
