The peaceful death of Raymond (John) Ven Der Buhs of Gatineau, Quebec and formerly of Englefeld, Saskatchewan, occurred in Gatineau at the age of 80 after a short battle with cancer. Raymond was the fourth of ten born to William & Maria (Nordick) vender Buhs. He took his schooling in Englefeld and at the age of 14 went to St Peters College in Muenster to continue his schooling. It was there that he felt drawn to the Benedictine order and in 1960, he celebrated his first high mass in the Holy Guardian Angel Church in Englefeld. After about 10 years he felt that a change in his life was needed and in 1971, he fell in love and married the love of his life, Madeleine Hudon. Together they adopted two Canadian children of Haitian descent and loved them as their own. Part of Raymond's accomplishments were: A Thesis, published in 1968 at the University of Ottawa; a Doctorate certificate in Philosophy; working with Dr. Lotta Hitschmanova and the Unitarian Service Committee Canada, Immigration Canada and in the later years teaching English until Nov 17 of this year at which time a diagnosis of Stage 4 cancer made him quit. Raymond is survived by his loving and dedicated wife Madeline (Hudon) of 43 years, daughter Isabelle (Pascal) Harnois and their precious twins, Laurent & Elsa and a son Phillip. He is also survived by his family in Saskatchewan; Angeline Kirzinger; Willie (Marie), Ray (Dolores); Bernard (Anita), Gertrude (Wallace) Stratton; Sister-in-Law Marie(G) , Madeleine's sister Angele and numerous nieces & nephews. He was pre-deceased by his parents William and Maria, one brother Henry, and three sisters Elizabeth(Robert) Kirzinger, Wilhelmina(Gilbert) Winters and Marie(Alfred) Miskolczi, a brother-in-law Arnold Kirzinger and two nephews Myron ven der Buhs and Anthony Miskolczi. Raymond has requested to donate his body to the Anatomy Division, University of Ottawa, for Cancer research.
