RAMLER: Raymond Bernard

August 23, 1931 - February 6, 2014

The death of Mr. Raymond "Ray" Ramler of Humboldt, SK, occurred at St. Mary's Villa, Humboldt, on Thursday, February 6, 2014. He was 82 years of age. Ray was born on August 23, 1931, to Anton and Clara (nee Busch) Ramler on the family farm near Lake Lenore, SK, and attended Solo School. After completing school, Ray farmed alongside his father in the Lake Lenore district and in 1960, along with his parents, moved into Humboldt where they had built a new house. Ray continued to farm from town until his retirement. While growing up, besides doing chores, there was always much activity going on such as skating, hockey, hockey tournaments, house parties and dancing. In later years, Ray enjoyed woodworking and also loved dancing, fishing, camping and travelling with Gladys. In the early part of 2012, he moved to Birch Manor in Middle Lake and in August of 2013, moved to St. Mary's Villa. Ray loved to have coffee with his friends and he also enjoyed teasing his nieces and nephews-he had a great sense of humor. He took great pride in his looks and was always impeccably dressed. Ray was quiet and reserved, kind, gentle, polite, and a real gentleman. He is survived by one sister: Val (Richard) Sarauer; in-laws: Lillian Ramler, Bernard Sarauer, Mary Ramler, and Walter (Marcella) Sarauer; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Anton and Clara Ramler; three brothers: Virgil (Therese) Ramler, Alvin Ramler, and Urban Ramler; three sisters: Rita Sarauer, Laura Sarauer, and Mary Ramler (in infancy); two nephews: Willard Sarauer and John Sarauer; and his special friend, Gladys Syroteuk. The Prayer Service for Ray was held at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church, Humboldt, on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. presided by Walter Sarauer and organist Debbie Sarauer. Scripture readers were Joan Carn and Brenda Berscheid, and the eulogy was delivered by Marilynn Silzer and Annette Magus. The Funeral Mass was offered at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church, Humboldt, on Thursday, February 13, 2014 celebrated by Fr. Gregory Roth. Others taking part were: Eric Sarauer, crossbearer; Cindy Ramler and Linda Rumberger, scripture readers; Dale Sarauer, intentions; Judy Landell and Kathy Logan, giftbearers. Music ministry was provided by the St. Augustine Parish Funeral Choir. Honorary pallbearers were "all those who shared in Ray's life". Active pallbearers were Murray, Ken and Jack Ramler and Keith, Jim and Gord Sarauer. Interment followed at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Cemetery, Humboldt.
