Randolph "Randy" SchikoskyOctober 1, 1931 - November 21, 2010Randolph George Peter Schikosky was born on October 1, 1931, in the Conception Church district, south of Carmel. He was the eldest son of Paul and Mary (nee Zerff) Schikowsky.

Randolph "Randy" SchikoskyOctober 1, 1931 - November 21, 2010Randolph George Peter Schikosky was born on October 1, 1931, in the Conception Church district, south of Carmel. He was the eldest son of Paul and Mary (nee Zerff) Schikowsky. Randy attended Valley View, Cranich Lake, Highgate and St. Augustine schools. He learned the value of hard work at a young age. Randy delivered groceries by bike for Barney Barnes, worked at the Egg Candling Station, Richmond's Department Store, Reliance Lumber, and Campbell Wilson & Miller Wholesalers, all before starting a 37-year career with SaskPower. Randy loved sports; he played broomball, hockey, and fastball in his younger years. Later in life, he took up bowling and golf. If Randy wasn't playing, he was watching his favourite teams - the Chicago Blackhawks, the Humboldt Broncos, and the Saskatchewan Roughriders. On June 27, 1959, Randy married Margaret Scherr in Delisle, SK. Together, they raised five children. Randy spent many years coaching and managing his son's bowling, baseball, and hockey teams. He was once the proud recipient of the Leo Parker Memorial Award for his involvement in Humboldt Minor Hockey. Randy and his friend Ozzy coached bowling for the Futuristic Industry teams and Y.B.C. Randy was also a member of the Humboldt Legion Auxiliary for many years. Always a social person, Randy was a coffee row regular, an avid card player, and a favourite uncle to many. He made friends wherever he went. More than anything, he loved being surrounded by his grandchildren. Randy's death occurred on Sunday, November 21st at Humboldt District Hospital. He died as he lived . a friend to all. Randy is survived by his wife, Margaret; children: Randa (Craig), Darren, Dean, Sheldon, and Shane (Rachel); grandchildren: Jordyn, Bailey, Molly, Kim, Finn, Odin and Sophia; three brothers and two sisters: Allen (Pat), Marion De La Franier, Marilyn (Murray) Lenyk, Larry, and Brian; the Scherr family: Dan (Rose), Monica (Ray) Zerff, Frank (Mavis), Art (Mary Ann), Shirley (Joe) Sklar, and Charles; and by many nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was predeceased by his parents, Paul and Mary; three sisters: Delores Koenders, Leona and Gladys (in infancy); brother-in-law, Jack De La Franier; nephew, Todd Schikowsky; and by parents-in-law, Valentine and Elizabeth Scherr. The Prayer Service for Randy was held at St. Augustine R.C. Church, Humboldt, on Wednesday, November 24 at 7:30 p.m., led by Jenny Irwin and organist Dolores Hinz. Scripture readers were Randa Schikosky and Ray Zerff, and words of remembrance were given by granddaughters Jordyn, Bailey, Molly and Kim. The Funeral Mass was offered at St. Augustine R.C. Church on Thursday, November 25 at 10:30 a.m., celebrated by Fr. Emile April. Others taking part were: Terry Saretsky, cross bearer; Jordyn Carlson, urn bearer; Jennifer and Andrea Schikowsky, scripture readers; Clayton Freistadt, intentions; Joe Schewaga and Ed Perry, gift bearers. Honorary pallbearers were Randy's former co-workers, golfing and coffee row buddies. Interment will take place at a later date.
