WEYLAND: Ramona Barbara
July 25, 1929 - February 2, 2017
Mrs. Ramona Barbara (nee Roettger) Weyland of St. Mary's Villa, Humboldt, SK, passed away at her residence on Thursday, February 2, 2017. She was 87 years of age. Ramona was born on July 25, 1929, to Bernard and Mary (nee Streitenberger) Roettger at home on their farm in the Wilmont district. She was raised there and attended Stearns School. After Grade 8, Ramona remained at home to help her parents. Eventually, she met Joseph Schriml, whom she married on August 9, 1949. They lived on a farm in the Pilger district where three children, Cathy, Allan and Robert were born. On August 7, 1966, Joseph died and Ramona was left alone to run the farm with her children. On June 14, 1969, she married Elmer Weyland. They resided on Ramona's home farm. A son, Parker, was added to the family. Ramona worked hard alongside Elmer with the farming and their dairy, as well as maintaining her bountiful gardens and excellent homemaking. They relocated to their new home in Bruno in the fall of 1985. She moved into her last home with Elmer in Humboldt in July of 1989. Ramona was a C.W.L. member for many years and enjoyed the socializing with other members. She also enjoyed the road trips through western Canada and the northern U.S.A. Ramona especially loved the trips to British Columbia to visit Robert. Her happiest times were visiting and celebrating with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Recently, Ramona's health was failing, so she moved to Quill Plains Centennial Lodge, Watson, in the fall of 2015, and on January 20, 2016, she became a resident of St. Mary's Villa. Ramona will be lovingly remembered by her loving husband of 47 years, Elmer Weyland; her children: Cathy (Raymond) Nett, Allan Schriml, Robert (Michelle) Schriml, and Parker Weyland; seven grandchildren: Blandine (Alain) Tremel, Barry (Denise) Nett, Jody (Tasha) Nett, Amanda (Alain) Basset, Curtis (Amanda) Schriml, Kyle (Ashley) Schriml, and Jared (Courtney) Schriml; 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; one brother, Raymond (Kathy) Roettger; three sisters: Irene (Fred) Urick, Darlene (Donald) Abday, and Marlene (Ervin) Jaeb; brother-in-law, Delmer Weyland; sister-in-law, Delphine Weyland; and by her nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband, Joseph Schriml; parents, Bernard and Mary (nee Streitenberger) Roettger; one sister, Hilda (Ralph) Yungwirth; two brothers: Clarence Roettger and Gilbert Roettger; brother-in-law, Arnold Weyland; sister-in-law, Linda Weyland; and by Joseph's brothers and sisters. The Funeral Mass was held at St. Augustine R.C. Church, Humboldt, on Tuesday, February 14, 2017, at 10:30 a.m., celebrated by Fr. Joseph Salihu. Others taking part were: Barry Nett, crossbearer; Amanda Basset and Jody Nett, scripture readers; Justin Tremel and Chantal Derbowka, intentions; Alain Tremel and Alain Basset, giftbearers; Blandine Tremel and Amanda Basset, eulogists; Parker Weyland and Blandine Tremel, urnbearers. Music ministry was provided by director Loretta Schugmann, organist Dolores Hinz, and members of the St. Augustine Parish Funeral Choir. An honor guard was formed by members of the C.W.L. Honorary pallbearers were "all those who shared in Ramona's life". Interment will take place at a later date. Memorial donations may be directed to the St. Mary's Villa Foundation. Schuler-Lefebvre Funeral Chapel, Humboldt, SK.
