FROESS: Peter Theodore

July 12, 1922 - October 12, 2014

The passing of Peter Theodore Froess of Bethany Pioneer Village, Middle Lake, and formerly of Humboldt and Muenster, occurred at his residence on Sunday, October 12, 2014. He was 92 years of age. Peter was born on July 12, 1922 at home on the family farm near Conception Church in the Carmel district. After completing his education at Cranish Lake Rural School, Peter stayed home to help out on the family farm and also worked at several other farms in the Carmel area. Later Peter farmed the family farm with his brother and sister-in-law, Albert and Marian, for many years. The farm consisted of both livestock and grain. For the first while he did have several other jobs, but always came back to the farm whenever he could. He worked for a time at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Humboldt, at a nickel mine in Sudbury, Ontario, and at Wappel Construction in Saskatoon and Regina. Pete's first love was always farming. When they retired from farming, Pete moved to Humboldt. His love for the land didn't allow him to stay away from farming for long and soon he was helping out at St. Peter's Abbey farm as a faithful and dedicated volunteer. During that time he also became an oblate. Peter had a great sense of humour and loved visiting and joking with people. Telling long stories, smoking cigars, and playing Santa Claus were among his favorite pastimes. Peter was a bachelor all his life, but loved Albert and Marian's children as if they were his own. After living in Humboldt for close to 20 years, he moved to Muenster. He was only there a short time when his health began to fail. Late last year, he moved to Bethany Pioneer Village in Middle Lake where he lived until his passing. Peter will be lovingly remembered by many people, but most of all by the Albert and Marian Froess children: Victoria (Allan) Jurgens and family; Valerie (Delbert) Kirsch and family; Kevin (Yolande) Fraess and family; Leon (Christine) Froess and family; Daryl (Lora) Froess and family; Janine Froess (Garnet Burkart) and family; Sherry Froess (Brent Nadon); Trevor (Norma) and family; Travis (Sharon) and family; Curt (Jennifer) and family; four brothers and four sisters: John Fraess; Agatha Struck; Amelia Hummel; Tony (Lavina) Fraess; Albert (Virginia) Froess; Clemence (Lavina) Fraess; Celina Koehler (Piere Pariseau); Theresa (John) Matiakis; sister-in-law, Marian Froess; brother-in-law, Dave McClelland; and numerous other nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Valentine and Elizabeth (nee Kosokowsky) Froess; six sisters: Ann (Wendil) Klashinsky, Helen (Albert) Klaschinsky, Mary (Tom) Gouldhawke, Cecelia (Roman) Struck, Elizabeth (Marcus) Struck, and Olga McClelland; brother Paul Froess; brothers-in-law Ervin Struck, Edward Hummel, and Fred Koehler.
