WOLFE: Peter Celestine

December 26, 1915 - February 19, 2014

The death of Mr. Peter "Pete" Celestine Wolfe of St. Mary's Villa, Humboldt, SK, occurred at his residence on Wednesday, February 19, 2014. He was 98 years of age. Pete, the fourth eldest of 13 children, was born on December 26, 1915, to Peter and Theresa (nee Huber) Wolf at home on their farm one mile east of Mount Carmel Hill, north of Carmel, SK. He grew up there and attended Gertrude School. After completing Grade 8, he stayed home to help on the farm, where they raised crops, cattle, pigs and chickens. On July 10, 1948, Pete married Agnes Kuechle at Carmel. They made their home on the Wolfe family farm where Peter had grown up. They raised four children, two sons and two daughters. In 1974, Pete and Agnes retired into Humboldt. Occasionally, Pete was employed by others farmers and especially liked working for Matt Breker on his farm. Pete always loved the outdoor life, and particularly enjoyed fishing, trapping and hunting; he still went hunting as recent as eight years ago. In their retirement years, Pete and Agnes travelled extensively, and visited many locations in Europe, Cuba, and Mexico. They also went on bus tours in Canada and the United States. At home, Pete enjoyed tinkering his basement workshop and going for coffee in the afternoon. Agnes passed away on May 14, 2003. Pete continued to reside in their home until 2008, when he moved to Lilly's Lodge in Bruno. In 2011, he became a resident at St. Mary's Villa. Pete is survived by his four children, nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild: Theresa Perando of Humboldt and family, Lorne (Cara) Thompson and their daughter Rory of Edmonton; Lambert Wolfe of Manitou Beach and family, Rene (Sheldon) Byers and their children Adam, Casandra, Savanna and Ethan, Christa Wolfe and daughter Jessica, and her daughter Hayleigh, all of Saskatoon; Karen (Jim) Beattie of Saskatoon and family, Mitch Beattie of Australia, Tyler (Shana) Beattie of Saskatoon, and Shauna (PJ) Weckworth of Saskatoon; and Lorne (Katherine) Wolfe and family, Sarah (Steven) Nelson of Hepburn and children Isabelle, Conner and Sabrina, Emily Wolfe of Saskatoon, and Kurt Wolfe of Humboldt; one brother, Gilbert; one sister, Henrietta; and by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Agnes (nee Kuechle) Wolfe; parents, Peter and Theresa (nee Huber) Wolf; and by 10 siblings: Louis, Theresia, Mary, Sr. Francis, Michael, Joseph, John, Raymond, Anna, and Celeste. The Prayer Service for Peter was held at Schuler-Lefebvre Funeral Chapel, Humboldt, on Friday, February 21, 2014, at 7:30 p.m., presided by Janice Dobmeier and scripture readers were Kathy Wolfe and Emily Wolfe. The Funeral Mass was offered at St. Augustine R.C. Church, Humboldt, on Saturday, February 22, 2014, at 2:00 p.m., celebrated by Fr. Ephraim Mensah.
