GAILLARD: Norma Jean

Norma Jean (Rice) Gaillard was born on February 25, 1947 to Sidney and Marie Rice. She grew up on the family farm in the St. James area until 1965 when she moved to St. Brieux to raise her own family. In 1971 she welcomed a baby boy, Blake Aaron, into the world, who would turn out to be her pride and joy. In 1975 she gave birth to a baby girl, Regan Jayd, who managed to fight for a few days before passing away. In 1977 Norma welcomed her youngest into the family, Tenyll Erin. In the years that followed she would teach her family to help others that need it, how to love your neighbours and how to work hard. She would always do what she could to make at least one person's day a little better whether it was running out to have a quick coffee with someone who needed to talk or having someone over for a bbq. She enjoyed spending time at the family cabin at Marean Lake as well as countless hours on the lake at St.Brieux watching the kids swim water ski and fish. In 1981 she started working at Parkland as a special care aide. She touched so many lives during her time there and made a difference in many. She enjoyed her work and it showed in the quality of care she gave to the residents and the smiles she created to everyone there. Norma passed away on March 6, 2014 at Mesa, Arizona at the age of 67 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her common law spouse Randy Long, her children Blake (Aimee) Gaillard, Tenyll Cook (Jeremy Mason), her brothers and sisters, her grandchildren and numerous friends. A Memorial Service for Norma was held from the St. Brieux Roman Catholic Church, St. Brieux, SK on Friday, May 16, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Dave MacPherson officiating.
