The peaceful death of Mr. Martin Saretsky, 89 years of Quill Plains Centennial Lodge, Watson and formerly of Humboldt, occurred on Tuesday, June 30, 2015. Martin was born on September 28, 1925 at home in the Bay Trail District to Michael and Elizabeth (nee Gurski) Saretsky. He grew up on the family farm and attended Deer Lake School in the area. Following his education, he began helping on the family farm, which he eventually took over and farmed for the rest of his life. He also worked for Sask Power for a short time in his earlier years. Martin ran a mixed farming operation however his cattle and horses were his pride and joy. He enjoyed anything to do with cattle including cattle shows, sales and 4-H events. Martin was fortunate to be able to live at home on the farm until this past January when due to illness he was hospitalized and then in March he became a resident of Quill Plains Centennial Lodge in Watson. Martin will be lovingly remembered by his three brothers: Raymond (Lillian) of Kamloops, BC, Donald (Ann) of Calgary, AB and Dennis (Claudette) of Humboldt; three sisters: Frances Kosolofski of Kamloops, Margaret Wilson of Estevan and Mary (Art) Opseth of Regina; as well as many nieces and nephews. Martin was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Elizabeth Saretsky; brother, Leonard; sister, Madeline; brothers-in-law, Sam Wilson and Sol Kosolofski; and nephew Albert Kosolofski. The Funeral Mass for Martin will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church, Humboldt, celebrated by Fr. Ephriam Mensah. Interment will follow at St. Scholastica Roman Catholic Cemetery. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Malinoski & Danyluik Funeral Home, Humboldt.
