MAYNARD: Margaret

Ìý

We are saddened to announce that on Saturday, May 7th, 2016 Margaret Mary Maynard (nee Novecosky) passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 70 years, with her loving family by her side. Margaret was born on the Novecosky homestead about 7 miles south of Humboldt on March 1st, 1946 to John Novecosky and Bertha Novecosky (nee Gursky). Margaret attended grade 1 to 8 at Deer Lake School located just over a mile north of the Novecosky homestead. Her high school years were spent between Humboldt Collegiate and St. Ursula’s Academy in Bruno where she graduated grade 12. In 1965 Margaret married Ron Maynard at St. Scholastica RC Church. That same year she obtained her Medical Record Technician Certificate while working at City Hospital in Saskatoon. They were blessed with two children, Richard and Jackie. During the course of her life she lived many places and held many jobs, teacher, secretary, choir director, librarian and medical records technician. She was fortunate enough to be able to retire at the age of 60 and she spent 10 years doing the things she loved the most which included travelling to the United States to visit her granddaughter Brittany and great grandchildren Addison and Kaylee, with a side trip to Vegas of course, watching grandchildren Ty & Lexi at their sporting & school events, playing canasta with family, visiting with friends, scrapbooking and spending plenty of time at their trailer at the lake, which included many hours at her favourite bench by the shore watching sunsets. Marg will always be remembered for her huge smile, her fantastic musical ability (piano, singing, choir director and musical bands and plays), her sense of fun and her aptitude for taking ‘no bull’ from anyone about anything. She was actively involved in the music ministry in every community she lived including the last 30 years at Our Lady of Consolation Church in Melfort where she played every week if at all possible. She had a strong faith in God and Church instilled in her from childhood that sustained her through her entire life. Her greatest love, however, was for her family and friends. She was never happier than when spending time with people she cared for whether in far off places or at home. Her love, caring, generosity and protectiveness knew no bounds. Margaret will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by husband Ronald of 51 years, son Richard (Shawneen), granddaughter Brittany (Marc), great grandchildren Addison and Kaylee, daughter Jackie (James), grandchildren Ty and Lexi; brother, Ed Novecosky (Lorraine); niece: Rachel (Corwin) and children Matthew and Anela and nephew Daniel (Deb) and children Hazel and Charlotte, nephew Jonathan, mother-in-law Rose Misouri, sisters-in-law Judy (Dave) Kowal and Cheryl (Gary) Waugh and brother-in-law Ken (Sharon) Maynard and numerous nieces andÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý nephews. She was predeceased by her parents John and Bertha, father-in-law John Misouri and sister-in-law Loretta Novecosky. A Prayer Service for Margaret was held on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 and Funeral Mass was held on Thursday, May 12, 2016. Both services were held from Our Lady of Consolation Roman Catholic Church, Melfort. A Family interment followed in the Humboldt Roman Catholic Cemetery, Humboldt, SK.Ìý Friends so wishing may make memorial contributions to the Canadian Cancer Society, Our Lady of Consolation Roman Catholic Church, Melfort, or to a Charity of One’s Choice.
