Mrs. Margaret (nee Bernauer) Ilg of St. Mary's Villa, Humboldt, SK passed away peacefully at her residence on Saturday, May 25, 2013 with her family by her side. She was 96 years of age. Margaret was born on May 14, 1917 in the Peterson District, Saskatchewan to John & Veronica (nee Winkel) Bernauer. She was the eldest of 11 children. They lived on a farm in Wilmont and she attended Keller School. On November 21, 1938 she married Theodore Ilg at St. John's in Wilmont. They resided on the Ilg homestead for 39 years where they farmed and raised their five children. In April 1977 they retired and moved to Humboldt to a home which they had designed and built. Theodore passed away on September 20, 1988. Margaret sold her home in August of 2005 and resided with her daughter Audrey and son-in-law Terry Kidd until she moved to her new home at St. Mary's Villa on June 14, 2007. Margaret will always be remembered as being kind, gentle, humble and looking after everyone else first. She led by example and by word which made her an excellent guide and teacher. She was also a hard worker and everything was always done to the best of her ability. "Strangers are friends we haven't met" was a plaque on her kitchen wall and she made certain that everyone felt welcome and that they were provided for with her good cooking and her bread which was second to none. Her favorite pastime was her needle work which was exemplified in the perfect stitching of her embroidery and quilting. Margaret devoted herself to Theodore and was his caregiver. She loved all her sisters and brothers. She especially loved music and could play organ really well which continued on throughout all her life. Margaret will be lovingly remembered by her four children and their families: JEROME Ilg of Humboldt. DOLORES (Leo) Nienaber of Humboldt and her children: Virginia (Bruno) Olesen and their family--Raeleen (Jeremy) Ehlert and their son Brody, Kaylee Olesen (Kris Steedsman), Angel Olesen; Shyan Waquan and her sons Tyler and Chad. BERNADETTE (Al) Hermann of Saskatoon and their family: Brynt Hermann and his children Jessica and Nicholas; Todd (Jennifer) Hermann and Weston. AUDREY Kidd of Humboldt and her son Sean Kidd (Marsha Loessl) and her children Dorion, Dylan and Jessica. Also surviving are two sisters and four brothers: Elizabeth Theissing, Rose Langenhoff, Joseph (Lorraine) Bernauer, Alois (Joyce) Bernauer, Arnold (Francis) Bernauer, Marcellus (Roszeta) Bernauer; sisters-in-law: Helen Bernauer and Phylis Bernauer; and by many nieces and nephews of the Bernauer & Ilg families.
