POLITESKI: Magdalen

Mom's almost century-long journey of faith and family came to its conclusion on July 16th, 2016. It began February 2, 1918 on a farmstead at Urbank, Minnesota. At age 19, as a newlywed, she came to rural Saskatchewan to begin a life of farming, gardening, and raising six children. With few             resources and high standards, challenges were numerous. Education mattered as the "dirty thirties" cut short her dream of finishing high school. Mom's sacrifices enabled her children to have encyclopaedias, a piano, and post-secondary educations. Married life progressed from the farm to an acreage in Lake Lenore. After the farming years mom and dad retired to Humboldt. Flower gardens and cabin life at Marean Lake enriched decades of retirement summers. When managing on their own became too difficult, Magdalen and John moved to Bethany Pioneer Village at Middle Lake. After dad died in  2001, mom returned to Humboldt, residing at St. Mary's Villa for her remaining years. Left to treasure her memory are her six children: Marilyn, Gordon (Sharon), Kathleen (Vic Tousignant), Loren (Lynne), Raymond (Linda), Renee (Clarence Puetz). She was proud of her seventeen grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren, the rewards of her long lifetime of giving. Mom was an exceptional woman who put duty to her family above everything. Thank you for your devotion to us. A Funeral Mass was held on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. from Malinoski & Danyluik Funeral Home Humboldt, celebrated by Fr. Ephraim Mensah. Interment followed at St. Anthony’s R.C. Cemetery Lake Lenore. Memorial donations in Magdalen’s memory may be directed to Marysburg Centre of the Arts or St. Anthony’s Cemetery Fund. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to MALI NOSKI & DANYLUIK FUNERAL HOME Humboldt.
