Lillian Amilda Seifert

May 4, 1928 - March 3, 2013

The death of Lillian Amilda Seifert of St. Mary's Villa, Humboldt, SK, (and formerly of LeRoy, SK), occurred at her residence on Sunday, March 3, 2013. She was 84 years of age. Lillian was born on May 4, 1928, to Gustave and Amelia (nee Block) Seifert at home on their farm in the LeRoy district. She grew up there and attended Illinois Rural School which was located two miles from the Seifert home. At an early age, Lillian possessed strong work ethics. Her working career started on the family farm. Later, she was employed at the hospital in Cudworth, SK, at a zipper factory in St. Catharines, ON; and at a Children's Home in Calgary, AB. In 1958, Lillian moved to LeRoy to live with her parents, and provided childcare for working mothers. When LeRose Lodge opened in 1970, she was among the first of nine on staff. After 23 years, Lillian retired and went on an extended trip to Germany with her cousin Erna Dotschkat. On March 2, 2009, she moved into Evergreen Country Home in LeRoy, then Quill Plains Centennial Lodge in Watson and, finally, St. Mary's Villa in Humboldt, where she passed peacefully from this life into the arms of her Lord and Savior. She will be fondly remembered for her kindness, particularly to the less fortunate, her generosity, her dedication and hard work wherever she was employed, her love of gardening, and her shining example of being a very loyal friend. Music was always a passion of Lillian's; she was an avid country music fan, and a faithful vocalist in the Hymn Sing Group since 1997, until, sadly, failing health prevented her from taking part any longer. Lillian leaves to mourn her passing, her sister Evelyn (Ben) Bonney; sister-in-law, Elaine Seifert; and by four nephews, one niece and their families: Randy (Darlene) Seifert, Curtis (Candace) Seifert, David (Dawn) Bonney, Barry (LaWanda) Bonney, and Sharon (Alan) Elliott. She was predeceased by her parents, Gustave and Amelia (nee Block) Seifert; and by her brother, Elmer Seifert. The Funeral Service was held at Schuler-Lefebvre Funeral Chapel, Humboldt, on Sunday, March 10, 2013, at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Pastors Ben and David Bonney. Music ministry was provided by the following: Elaine Seifert, organist; Walter and Adeline Block and Pastor Ben and Evelyn Bonney, the Hymn Sing Group Quartet; and Walter and Adeline Block, duet. Honorary pallbearers were "all those who shared in Lillian's life". Active pallbearers were Barry Bonney, Randy Seifert, Curtis Seifert, Alan Elliott, Ervin Dotschkat, and Donavon Block. Interment followed at LeRoy Public Cemetery, LeRoy. Memorial donations may be directed to either Evergreen Country Home, LeRoy, or a charity of your choice. Condolences to the family may be emailed to [email protected]. Schuler-Lefebvre, Humboldt, SK.
