The death of Mr. Leddi Lawrence Stadnyk of Humboldt, SK, occurred at Humboldt District Hospital on Tuesday, March 6, 2012. He was 49 years of age. Leddi was born on October 30, 1962, to Tony and Doris (nee Zerebeski) Stadnyk at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Humboldt. He grew up on the family farm southwest of Humboldt and attended school in Humboldt. From early on, Leddi loved the outdoors. Innumerable hours were spent during the years of his childhood and youth hunting, trapping, and playing hockey on sloughs with his brother, cousins, and friends. His passion for the outdoors would continue throughout the years as he pursued his love of camping, fishing and hunting; however, he never liked swimming. Following his education, Leddi was employed part-time as a security guard and full-time at Varga Lumber in Muenster. A few years later, he changed occupations and began working as a heavy equipment operator at the Humboldt Landfill, a position he maintained for over 25 years. During that time, Leddi married and was blessed with four children, three sons and one daughter. He did everything he could with them as they were growing up, including hunting and playing slow pitch with the Dixon Diggers. Years later, he became the proud grandfather of one grandson and three granddaughters. Leddi also enjoyed spending time with them whenever possible. Other favorite leisure activities were playing pool, snooker, Kaiser and broomball, (where he was asked to play in nationals in 1989, which he couldn't do as a result of a sprained ankle.). Leddi will be lovingly remembered by his four children and four grandchildren: Christopher (Krystal) Stadnyk and children Matthew and Hailey, Tina Stadnyk and daughter Katlynn, Nathan Stadnyk, and Travis Stadnyk and daughter Cheyenne, all of Humboldt; his mother, Doris (nee Zerebeski) Stadnyk of Humboldt; and by one brother, two sisters, three nieces and two nephews: Lloyd Stadnyk, Bernadine (Stan) Dyck and children Chantelle, Rebecca and Gerad, and Lisa (Courtney) Ward and children Brittany and Tony, of Humboldt. He was predeceased by his father, Tony Stadnyk; paternal grandparents, Wasyl and Annie (nee Shule) Stadnyk; and by his maternal grandparents, Mike and Isabelle Zerebeski. The Prayer Service for Leddi was held at All Saints U.C. Church, Humboldt, on Friday, March 9, 2012, at 5:00 p.m., led by Fr. Mykola Romanets. Others taking part were: Bill Cherneski, cantor; Roman Stadnyk, sacristan; Frances Schidlowsky, scripture reader; and Al Tarnowski, eulogist. The Funeral Mass was offered at All Saints U.C. Church on Saturday, March 10, 2012, at 4:00 p.m., celebrated by Fr. Mykola Romanets. Others taking part were: Bill Cherneski, cantor, Roman Stadnyk, sacristan; Tony Ward, crossbearer;. Honorary pallbearers were "all those who shared in Leddi's life." Active pallbearers were Ed Baran, Darcy Leonew, Brian Reifferscheid, Tim Frey, Eddie Zerebeski, Rebecca Dyck and Cecilia Beckman. Interment followed at All Saints U.C. Cemetery, Humboldt. Memorial donations may be directed to either All Saints U.C. Church or Ducks Unlimited.
